H-1B transfer:
The H-1B visa is employer specific, position specific, and location specific.
If you change employers, the new employer must file a new H-1B petition. If you meet the requirements for H-1B portability, you can start working for the new employer as soon as the new H-1B petition is filed.
For you new H-1B petition, you will need to provide basically the same documents you provided for your initial H-1B along with the first H-1B approval notice and 3 months of paystubs.
From the employer's perspective, they just need to cooperate with the attorney preparing the H-1B petition.
Whether this is your first H-1B or an H-1B transfer, you are on your way to a successful H-1B petition if your employer is:
1. Willing to sponsor your H-1B petition
2. Offering you a job in a specialty occupation
3. Offering to pay you at least the prevailing wage
